They will lie, cheat, steal and even kill to enforce their authority when they are wrong. Lie under oath, plant evidence, destroy evidence. Whatever takes. Their fellow thugs in uniform will back them up every time, too. Eric Booker i know a police officer. he lives just down the street. to see all of these comments stating “police are lying, cheating thugs who make the rules” really hurts me. the officer down the street had two sons and three daughters. he is nice, and he is involved in almost every community event. i often stop and talk with him, and he only does what is necessary to enforce the law. and want to know about another shining example? at my HS we have an officer who stays at an office at the annex and patrols the school. she has scented candles (which smell like coffee) and her office is always open. she funny, friendly, and she only does what she has to. why can’t people understand that not all people who have jobs to do bad things, are bad people? that’s like calling a soldier a murderer for killing a terrorist bomber. or a firefighter a tree-hugger. it’s dumb. in large cities police officers are most likely always on duty. that means less sleep, and even less shits given when you begin getting fresh with them. and in the “slums” part of the community, most officers there are either corrupt, or are simply from there, and were raised to act that way. calling all officers the same because you live where officers are bad or where crime is very common is unjust. if i’ve learned anything from the police, it’s follow the rules. if the rules impede upon your rights, then they don’t apply, but that’s why there are no laws that do such a thing. if i had the option, i’d go and begin training now. but instead, i want to fight for my country. if that means i die, so be it. but i want to train like my father did. and i want to serve, protect, and honor those before me, and those i love. and guess who inspired me to do this. two friendly police officers, and a dad in his 50’s who still carries his old uniform and medals. Aiman Jarrar Here’s what Cops don’t want you to know…YOU HAVE RIGHTS. A cop cannot legally ask for your ID (depending on your state..some states do have unconstitutional stop and ID laws) unless you’re suspected of committing a crime, traffic infraction, ect. THIS IS ALSO TRUE WHEN YOU’RE DRIVING! If you get pulled over and the LEO doesn’t suspect you of a crime or a civil infraction/traffic violation, DON’T GIVE UP YOUR PAPERS! YOU LEGALLY DON’T HAVE TOO! (Once again, depends on your state) The supreme court also just passed recently that flipping off the police is NOT a legitimate reason for them to even stop you! If you do flip them off and they stop you, YOU CAN SUE THE SHIT OUT OF THEM! And if you get caught with drugs or something, you can get that THROWN OUT IN COURT because they stopped you illegally! Learn your rights people! -CopBlock Member Leonard Nedosekov As a cop i can say, these rules dont apply in Europe. If i suspect you made a crime i have a full right to search you and identify you, you want it or not. Want a good tip how to avoid it? Dont break the fuckin law, common sense duh Maya Potato What about non-violent protests? There are plenty of scenarios in which a large group of people is protesting against something without violence and police shoot riot slugs and throw tear gas into a crowd that only yells out their dissatisfaction with something. Does that not violate freedom of speech and right to gather? J Hayes The problem is; it seems as though very few cops KNOW what the laws even are, and many believe THEY ARE the law. I was once threatened with arrest for being in line at a KFC right next to the river without a shirt. When told that doing so was ‘against the law,’ I asked which law, and explained I studied law, had read all of the State laws, city codes, and even regulatory laws of the state (of Oklahoma), and had never seen ANY law that even might be applicable to the situiation. The cop responded by 1st, pointing at his badge, then pointing at his patrol car, and telling me HE WAS the law. When I pointed put that I had paid for both the badge, as well as his vehicle, as a taxpayer, expressed my doubts as to his knowledge of the law and asked for his badge number so I could have it explained to him by his shift captain, he jumped into his car and ran off. The entire perspective of modern police seems to have changed from understanding that the ARE public servants to viewing the public as their enemy. WHY?? Cody Cotten How many cops does it take to screw in a light bulb? none, they would just beat the room for being black. Rollerzs learder I hate when a cop kills a guy and becomes a hero, but when a guy kills a cop it like the end of the world Dragona131 So the Stop & Frisk law is directly in violation of the 4th Amendment, then. Lucille N Fun fact, Police can sieze any object (be it cash, your coffee, your car, or your house) if they have a reason to believe it can potentially be used for a crime. What warrents something having “the potential” to cause a crime? anything the officer says does. If a cop every asks you if you have large sums of money in your car or on your person, say no. They can take it to prevent you from buying drugs (even if you have evidence that says the money is going towards something like a car). Getting it back is extremely difficult and costly. It requires you to go to court to prove the object is innocent (basically in this case, they are arresting the object, which is guilty until proven innocent). The court will often not be presided over by a judge, but rather an employee of the police force. What do they do with with what they take? why, they buy whatever they want. There is no regulations on what they can use the funds for. It’s called Civil Forfeiture, and i am not kidding or exaggerating. One police force used the money they confiscated to buy a margarita machine and fully stock it. Abel Lawliet Or course undercover cops don’t have to tell you they’re cops. Could you imagine if they did? Every cop drama would suck, and even the dumbest of drug dealers would remember to ask every new customer if they’re a cop. DarkSpiritMorrigan Alright, so the video said if they can’t see it, they can’t search for it. That’s true. It’s called “plain sight.” If they can’t see an object in your carin your house, or on your person, then they have no probable cause to search. However, there is also plain smell and plain touch. If they can smell it (like weed, for example) they can search. If they can touch it and articulate what it is (like feeling a gun during a Terry stop), they can search. Also, they do not have to read you your Miranda rights unless you are under arrest (or in custody) AND being questioned/interrogated. You can always plead the fifth and ask for a lawyer, though. Dark Star FACT: Police officers are dumb! youknow why? because when they pull you over they ask “Do you know how fast you were going sir?” and i respond with “I dont know… did you allready forget?” Wayne Flint the Security Guard The 4th Amendment doesn’t go on ALL the time, but it has to be a valid reason. Like if a Cop believes he can smell Pot in your car or something. Paige Ruskaup You should never give the bird to anyone. That’s so rude. HighImpactFlix There’s a video with the title: Ammo-Selling Citizen Presses Cop for 3 Forms of I.D. that puts some of the things in this video into practice with a real cop. Mary Leigh Lear I hate when cops say “Im just doing my job. I dont want to arrest you.” when they have the power of arrest and can choose to arrest you or not for that suspended license of yours perse. ThePeacemaker848 This is how you resist a false arrest: You have your hands up and you state clearly and loudly that You believe this is a false arrest and that the officer is going beyond his authority. This is by no means over and you ca NOT simply walk away. You state to the officer that you request another police officer to be called to the scene to handle the situation. If no officer is available you then state you are going to the nearest police station and that the officer can follow or escort you. Some officers could state that there isn’t sufficient time for that no officers are availiable or he is the law, etc… Or somehow refuses or acts funny – the situation can escalate because the officer is not following the guidelines. You then state you are going to phone emergency and request verification that he is indeed a police officer. Note: ANY funny business on your part – acting aggressive, back-talking, insulting is grounds even for the officer to simply use force and place you under arrest. Police officer get trained so that at the slightest hint of trouble they take you down. There is zero time to think about it, just training and instinct – which is what they train for. And remember that police officers are people too. If they think their life is in danger they have every right as you do to defend themselves. Just a note: I live in Canada and most of our city police force recruits are heavily screened before they become police. For the most part they are trustworthy and the times I’ve encountered them and have asked for ID or other confirmation that they are officers they immediately comply and everything is fine. Now, our national police force the RCMP I might be a little suspicious because of some of their recent incidents. Adam Collins This… this is not good. Some of these are absolutely false (in some US States). There are other reasons police can come into your house without your consent. This is reckless. solomon barry Why do people make cops out to be evil in this generation, they uphold the law and if your so angry about cops then who else responds to rapes, murders, assaults, drug dealers, and just maintains the civility and peace that so many people take for granted. No wonder America is starting to become the laughing stock of the world if this is how we treat our police I don’t blame them. Andrew Allen Who wouldn’t consent to a search? I mean seriously. If you have nothing to hide what does it matter if they search your belongings? Carlton Midgley In Canada we have laws that allow drivers without turn signals on their car to use hand signals (out their driver side window) similar to bike riders. I have heard of a cop pulling someone over, and after the traffic stop, the car pulled away and gave the cop the finger, so the cop pulled her over again and charged her with improper turn signal. I thought that was creative :) Naked Snake 1:14 It’s actually better to say “I plead the fourth”. For the not having to say anything, when they tell you “You have the right to remain silent, anything and everything you say can be and will be used against you.” say “I plead the fifth” so you don’t have to testify against yourself. Trust me, you don’t want to.
